my family is blessed to share a summer house on the potomac river. i've been visiting for over 43 years. it's where we go to get away and relax. we swim, fish, treasure hunt and explore. we spend time with family and friends and occasionaly a bald eagle or two. i even spent a year living there while teaching fifth grade at one of the two local elementary schools.
this summer, i invited myself, a few of our signs and a camera into our neighbors gorgeous home because, well, it's amazing. and i just knew that you'd love to take a peek inside. they are fabulous neighbors with an impecable coastal decorating style. they have not missed one detail in their little white cottage by the river.
they have repurposed vintage wooden water skis into just about every room in their cottage.
benches, chairs, shelves, railings, a door handle.
even into a holder for their hose. oh my.
they collect these colorful bouys as they wash ashore on the beach. they've incorpoarted them into several areas of their home. it's no surprise that my favorite is this great garland!
these orange vintage life jackets against the aqua chairs is so much fun.
i love old license plates. the colors of these are just perfect with the old life ring.
isn't their little cottage dreamy? you can't help but smile when you see it.
there's so much inspiration in these photos. maybe you can incorporate some of these wonderful ideas into your beach or lake house...or even you every day house.
and the next time you are out thrifting or at a yard sale and see some old wooden skis, you'll know exactly what to do with them. the hard part will be deciding on the project...there are so many fabulous ideas!

Love your stuff! Dick Pope Jr was my dad. I think he’d love what you’ve done with his skis. :)
