bop studio - a few of my favorite things

February 18, 2015

do you have a happy place?  somewhere that you can escape to when you need to relax.  rejuvenate.  renergize.

for me, that happy place is my studio.  it is a room full of light.  color.  life.  and it's full of so many of my very favorite things.

the best part is that my studio is in my home.  so i can escape here.  a lot.

usually, i come here to paint.  being surrounded by so many of my favorite things is a great source of inspiration.  and comfort.  and the connections that i have with the wonderful people who hand crafted so many of my favorite things...well, those connections are the most inspiring of all.

the colorful bunting that is draped all over my entire studio was hand sewn by the one and only Tina from The Bunting Place.  she uses beautiful, vintage fabrics and creates the happiest bunting flags that you ever did see.  she is great to work with, too.

the barn owl primitives wooden sign was hand crafted by Homegrown Sign Co.  a few years ago Kenny and Beryl took a total leap of faith.  they sold everything they owned and moved their family from Los Angeles to a rural mountain town in North Carolina.  they are working and living on their small homestead and loving it.  how inspiring is that?

another husband and wife team made the gorgeous magnetic memo board.  John and Jane from Elegance Farm Homestead hand build cottage style, framed magnetic bulletin boards from their farmhouse in New Jersey.  they work side by side to create stylish bulletin boards that are extremely well made and beautiful.

through this creative journey, i've made some wonderful real life friends.  Cheryl from Serendipity Hill is one of those friends.  we talk and text often, sharing ideas and inspiration.  we share a love for handmade he{art}.  and we are passionate about staying true to who we are.  Cheryl made this BOP sign for my studio and i just love it.  that cute owl watches over the studio and always brings a smile to my face.

i love being surrounded by color.  texture.  whimsy.  and vintage things.  i take so much inspiration for my signs from simple, everyday things in my studio.

do you have a happy place?  if not, create one.  find some things that inspire and delight you.  put them together in a space that you can escape to.  add some music. a fragrant candle.  lots of light.  and relax.  rejuvenate.  renergize.   be happy.
