vintage inspiration - alphabet blocks

January 12, 2016 1 Comment

as an artist, i often draw inspiration from everyday objects when designing new pieces for our shop.

a few years ago i created a huge wall hanging xylophone, taking inspiration from my vintage toy xylophone.  i wanted something large to hang in my studio that was full of color and meaningful, and the rainbow colored metal toy that sits on my shelf provided me with just the motivation i needed.  each piece is hand painted and assembled by hand, so no two are ever exactly alike.

this past spring, i used my daughters watercolor palette as the inspiration for our large paint palette.  designed to hang in your playroom, creative studio, classroom, or just about anywhere you could use some bright color and fun!  this colorful hand painted watercolor palette is ready to hang on your wall.  it's heavily distressed vintage style is part of its charm.

and just last month, inspired by this tin full of well loved antique blocks, i created our latest product line.

our hand crafted alphabet block signs are full of whimsy and charm and we are so excited to finally share them with you today.

we create each board in house and have taken great care to add the texture and character that is found on old, vintage blocks.  each piece is given a special finish by hand that consists of several steps and layers.  imperfections in the finish are intended to achieve a vintage look and feel. no two will ever be exactly alike. the differences in the finish and colors are part of the charm of these very unique hand painted keepsakes. bumps, nicks, scratches, and dents are normal and to be expected as these are characteristics of distressed vintage style handmade goods.

visit our dear friend Ashley at Little Miss Momma to hear more about our latest product line and for an awesome giveaway.

and be sure to visit our shop to see more of this fun, new product line.

Hi! I liove this idea… Do you do personalize the “blocks”? I think it would be neat to have them in each of my child’s names.
Thanks,
Karin
